The Maiden Heist- Three Oscar Winners = One Straight To DVD Movie

There was a nice post in the LA Times blog section today (big shout out to LAT Blog editor Tony Pierce) about the Bob Yarri's "The Maiden Heist" that was partially filmed in Worcester last year at The Worcester Art Museum.

The Maiden Heist had its "world premiere" at The Hanover Theatre back in the spring and it seems like that is going to be the only time that this movie is shown on the big screen. I attended the premiere, the movie was pretty funny and quirky in its own way. You can't knock the cast of Morgan Freeman, Christopher Walken, William H. Macy and Marcia Gay Harden. But it seems that the Worcester curse rubbed on on Yarri who lost his financing for marketing and the DVD rights were bought up by Sony before this ever hits the multiplex.

So Worcester, you will have to hit up your neighborhood Redbox, Netflix or Blockbuster to get a glimpse of this movie. Worcester certainly dropped the ball not being able to work out a deal for the soon to be Scorsese, DiCaprio hit Shutter Island. Bruce Willis and The Surrogates will be landing in theaters soon, and don't forget about Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz doing their thing at Worcester Airport in a few weeks for the filming of "Witchita"
