While checking out the racks I came across this black sweater in my size. The tag showed a retail price of $150.00, the outlet price SHOULD have been $89.99, but for some reason was printed as $0.00. This was not human error as it was a computer generated tag, it was not a case of an employee using a manual pricing gun like the supermarket. So of course I brought the sweater to an employee and told them they had to honor their price and give me the sweater for free!!!
At first the girl was like no, no we can't do that, but I continued to protest. She then called another Puma store, tried to get in touch with her manager etc... After a while she told me ok, I could have it for free but she just needed to make a photocopy of the pricetag. She then brought the item up front but my girlfriend and I were still shopping. I ended up finding a pair of pants, and 20 minutes later I go to check out. At this point they change their tune and say I can't have the item for free. They can only give it to me for 60% off. I said that was bullshit and threw a hissy fit. Told them I would contact the Better Business Bureau, the Attorney General and Puma Corporate Offices blah, blah, blah. The girl put up a fight and was firm that she couldn't give me the sweater for free, she said I had to call the manager in the morning and it would be his choice.
So I called him on Monday morning and he said it was fine, I could have the item for free. So I went back on Monday night to pick up the sweater and the pants. No problem, everything is fine, $90.00 sweater for free. Until I get on the highway and D peeks in the bag to check out the sweater. The damn manager asshole forgot to take the security tag off the thing! What a rat bastard! I sure didn't want to go back so D and I ended up cutting it off the sweater with a combination of a hacksaw, bolt cutters and screwdriver.
Moral of the story: Yes the sweater was free, but it was a hell of a process before I could wear it. I will say I did wear it to work yesterday and liked it quite a bit! All's well that end well!
