Well apparently the folks at Hyundai don't think so.
I noticed I had a headlight out on the 2002 Hyundai Elantra GT last weekend. Not that I should be complaining since I have had ZERO problems with the car in over two and a half years and about 47,000 miles. Well the car does make some sort of whistling noise when going over 75 and the wind is blowing just right, but 98% of the time it isn't a problem.
So last weekend I went and bought a new halogen bulb, figured I could pop out the old and put in the new, but the situation is much more involved. To make matters worse this was the bulb on the drivers side, so in order to get at the bulb you have to pull out the battery and everything.
So I waited until Easter to give it a go since some of the tools needed I don't have on hand, and my father would have everything needed. So on Easter before grubbing down on a clamboil that my mother made for Easter dad came outside to give me a hand. So we took out the battery and got at the headlight. At this point there is a wire latch that kind of holds the beam in place. Instead of just unlatching the wire and sliding the new halogen in we unscrewed the two screws that held this swing wire in place! And at this point we were screwed.
from there it took about another 45 minutes to get the wire back in place and the bulb in. From there we were good to go. Thank goodness dad gave me a hand or I would have been up shit creek as far as changing the bulb goes! Plus mom's clamboil was the bomb as always!

I just changed my bulbs for the first time. You're right, this was a pain in the butt. I did a little research and updated a how-to page regarding the headlight clip. Next time, you won't have to take the headlight apart.
Here is the webpage: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_do_you_replace_the_headlight_bulb_located_on_a_2002_Hyundai&updated=1&waNoAnsSet=2
I hope this helps!
